The purpose of this year was to chase joy, and things ain’t feeling so joyful right now. It is cold and wet outside, and while I’m willing to bundle up and brave it to preserve my own sanity, I cannot get the kids to embrace hours of outdoor play in the freezing rain.

They’ve revolted.

As a result, we’re all going a little stir crazy. Scratch that, we’re all going A LOT stir crazy.

So guess what… time to course correct.

We’ve reached the part where I question everything.

Why are we doing this? What are we hoping to get out of it? Why is everyone so cranky? Will the kids ever stop fighting? Is it just me, or are the children multiplying? (I’m 99.9% sure that’s not scientifically possible, but it feels real).

In short, what the hell were we thinking?

I know that what we’re doing is special. And we’re lucky to have this opportunity.

I know this.

And also, sometimes it’s just fu*king hard.

I’m falling into old habits, my friends. And it does not feel good.

You guys, we’re doing this thing.

Dare I say we’re becoming legit fulltimers?

We’ve been Boondocking for two weeks now, and the world has not come to an end!

You know you’ve fully embraced RV life when you go on a bike ride and can feel the wind blowing through your leg hair. 

I have arrived.

“Welp, that didn’t go the way we expected. We had a lovely few days in Bend, Oregon and then the world burned down.

At least it feels that way.

Doesn’t it feel that way?

I suppose it has felt that way for a while now, and we have just now entered the phase where the world literally burns down. 

You need to work on your subtlety, 2020, it’s all a little obvious, don’t you think? Please get more creative with your end times antics.”
